Four new members were elected— Mrs Meldrum, Misses Hammond and Page, and Mr B. Taylor.

ANNUAL REPORT. The president, Mr Harker, presented the following report:— I have pleasure in presenting the first annual report of the Waipawa Dramatic Club. Although the past - season was the club’s first in its - then form it really grew out of the 1 old play-reading circle, and the sur- ® viving members of that body were t primarily responsible for our present * club’s formation. 1 At a public meeting held on the 20th June last it was unanimously decided to form a Dramatic Club for the purpose of studying, reading and presenting plays, and a successful 1 start Avas made by the reading of three one-act comedies on the 13th ’ July. From then until the middle of October, readings rvere held fortnightly or thereabouts, and the dub 1 then put into rehearsal a one-act 1 farce, “The Green Monkey,” and a three-act modern comedy, “Flat to Let.” The former Avas entered for the Half-hour Entertainment competition, Avhere it Avon second place. A still more successful presentation AA 7 as later given at Omakere. “Flat to Let” A\ r as presented in December

as the closing act of the SAvimming Bath’s Carnival. The club Avere extremely fortunate in securing the services of Mrs J. B. Hamilton as producer for the comedy, and her efforts Avere reAvarded by a presentation Avell worthy of a city amateur club. It is understood that Mrs Hamilton’s services are available for the coming season, and it is fitting that the club should place on record its high appreciation of Mrs Hamilton’s work on its behalf. The success achieved should spur members on to greater efforts during the forthcoming season. The average attendance at the fortnightly reading Avas about thirty, and the interest, both of the readers and of the audience, Avas AA-ell maintained. Most reading members made a distinct advance in their AA'ork as the season progressed, with the result that no difficulty avhs experienced in casting the tAvo plays put on. I desire to thank Miss Wills for her valued services as secretary-treasurer, and the committee for its enthusiasm and ready assistance at all times.
