SUDDEN DEATH
OF MR R. M. CHADWICK. NAPIER, Last night. The death occurred last night of Air R. M. Chadwick, one of Napier’s most active citizens and secretary of the Hawke’s Bay Automobile Association. He was taken suddenly ill on Saturday afternoon while attending the national athletic championships, where his son, Air Hordon Chadwick, Auckland, was taking part, but later he suffered a stroke and passed away peacefully at 9.30 o’clock that night. Well-known all over New Zealand for his personality and sportsmanship, Mr Chadwick once represented New Zealand and Otago at Association football and Otago at cricket. Born in Dunedin 59 years ago, Air Chadwick became an engineer with Alessrs A. T. Burt and Co., there afterwards graduating to the position of draughtsman with that firm.
