TRUCKS OF. GELIGNITE SEIZED SCOTLAND YARD ON WARTIME BASIS. LONDON, February 6. A police raid at Ilford resulted in the seizure of fifteen trucks full of gelignite and a quantity of Irish Republcan Army literature. Two bombs are reported to have been discovered near the hangars and the petrol store at the flying school at Rochester. A policeman who stopped to question two men was attacked and slashed across the face. A policeman who challenged a man at Hendon aerodrome was similarly assaulted. So far no foreign comment on the bombing has reached London. It is revealed that Scotland Yard was organised on a wartime basis over the week-end. All leave was stopped and 1000 policemen were, distributed at strategic points throughout London. To-day a watchman found a homemade bomb in the electric generating station in Titchfield street. It failed to' explode owing to a damp fuse. Fires which occurred in shops in Coventry were caused by envelopes containing toy balloons filW with nitric acid, which, after penot. ’ating he rubber, ignited magnesium powder and produced an intense blaze.
