RISE IN WETHERS
AT AYAIPUKURAU SALE. AA ethers making a rise from Is to Is 6d a head was the chief feature at yesterday’s stock sale at AYaipukurau, when all classes of useful store sheep met with a keen sale. I orward lambs again were in demand and were readily sought after, the market being topped by an entry on account of Mr T. Howard, which brought 17s 2d. AA ell-grown shorn lambs, in good order, brought 14s. Medium quality woolly pens brought from 12s to 14s •id. Small-grown sorts in light condition made to 9s. The top lines of lambs represented some quality, and included some early-finishing lots. Forward 4-tooth wethers sold from 17s 4d to 17s lOd, one big entry of 69 being disposed of to one buyer.
Wethers made up fully one-half ol the yarding of about ' 6000 sheep. Some of the lines suitable only for ■acrying over sold well in vendors' favor. Buyers appeared to hold oil lor tin* lair on Friday for breeding >wes, and little interest was shown or the pens offered, except one entry if 2-tooths in good order, which undo 23s 9d. Aged fattening ewes n poor order brought 4s Od.
No store cattle were penned, and the fat pens consisted chiefly of a draft on account of Mr Ben Gray, Onga Onga, of small-grown, young heifers in good order for the summer trade, which ranged from £5 10s to ■Cti 18s, averaging 28s to 29s per 1001 b.
