PRESENTATION

TO MR R. A. PEPPERELL. At the railway station on Monday evening Mr R. A. Pepperell, stationmaster, who has been transferred on promotion to Port Ahuriri, was met by the various carriers, service drivers, wood merchants and the station staff, and presented with a combined fountain pen and pencil set, together with a Loue pipe. The presentation was made by Mr G. Green, who referred to the excellent qualities of the recipient, and wished him further success in the service.

These sentiments were heartily endorsed by Messrs R, King (representing Mr W. Oliver), S. J. E. Stephenson, W. Reid, R. Dunkin, C, Fargher (representing D. A. Preston, Ltd.), Wallis, Stratford, and H. Gill.

In acknowledgment Mr Pepperell thanked all for their very handsome and useful gifts, and for the kindly sentiments accompanying them. He appreciated both very much indeed, but said he could not have carried out his duties so efficiently if he had not had the co-operation of the staff and business people. Mr Kay, the new stationmaster, will take up his duties this week.
