RESUSCITATION OF THE BAND
MI? DENNE’S OFFER ACCEPTED. At last evening’s meeting of the Borough Council a letter was received from Mr T. C. Denne, Waipukurau, offering to take a learners’ class for the resuscitation of the hand, one practice a week, at the rate of £1 a week. The Mayor, Mr Eagle, said this was a matter deferred by the old Council. It was felt that a really serious effort should be made to resuscitate the hand, and this was the first step in that direction. It was only a temporary measure, till such time as the learners had attained some proficiency. He moved that Mr Denne’s offer be accepted, the date of appointment to be left to the Band Committee. In reply to Cr. Harvey the Mayor stated that the young men who handed in their names were very keen. The motion was seconded by Cr. Holdsworth and carried.
