GENERAL ELECTION ROLL

ALTERATION OF BOONDARIES INVOLVES LARGE NUMBER OF TRANSFERS. The work entailed in altering the electoral rolls owing to boundary changes in the electorates, has almost been completed by the Registrar of Electors for the Waipawa electorate, Mr J. M. Carroll. Within the next few day all those electors near Hastings who have been added to the Waipawa electorate and also those in the southern portion of the electorate who have been transferred to the Pahiatua electorate, will have received official notification of this change. About 1000 electors from the Hawke’s Bay electorate had been transferred to Waipawa, said Mr Carroll, and a similar number in the Norsewood and Takapau districts had been transferred to Pahiatua. Mr Carroll said that it was not wished that those electors who knew themselves to have been transferred to Waipawa should make application to be included on the new roll. If they were already on a roll, then the process of changing would be automatic, and application for enrolment should be made only if they had not previously been on the roll. Notices of the change should he received in the next few days, and if after a reasonable lapse of time the notices were not received, it would be then necessary to make application. The cleansing of the roll of all names of electors who, since the last election, have died or rembved to another district will shortly he commenced. No definite date has yet been set for the closing of the roll.
