NAPIER’S COLONNADE

THIRTY THOUSAND CLUB’S HELP. NAPIER, Last night. Completion of the colonnade section of the Marine Parade by continuing the present colonnade as far as tin* sundial, with a large central arch and a third arch at the northern end similar to the Latham Arch, is proposed by the Napier Thirty Thousand Club. The plan has been submitted to the Napier Borough Council for consideration and approval at the next meeting. The work will cost £7BO and the Thirty Thousand Club has undertaken to have it done free of eosl to the Council. The new arch at the northern end will he named the Robert C. Wright Arch. The principal and more massive arch will occupy the centre of the completed colonnade and will open on the Veronica Bell and the glassed-in hay, and has yet to he named. Suggested names include the “Arch of Remembrance” and the “New Napier Arch.”
