Katranski, collided with the concrete bridge on the Otane main highway when motoring from Wellington to Hastings on Wednesday. Approaching the bridge he swerved to avoid a lorry coming from Otane and caught the wing of the bridge. The car was badly smashed, and Mr Katranski received injuries which necessitated his removal to Royston Hospital, Hastings. Port Nicholson Silver won the A grade first test at the Bands Contest at Palmerston North, with, Wanganui Garrison second and Timaru Municipal third.
