WAIPUKURAU STOCK SALE CATTLE UP. The cattle market at Waipukurau yesterday shoived a sharp rise, both for the fat and store entries. In the fat section very few' of the entries were finished, and they made very dear buying. The bullocks, penned were in store condition only, and sold to £ll Is. The best heifers made to £8 17s, averaging’ approximately 30s per hundred pounds. Prime cow' beef brought over 26s per hundred pounds. Second class Jersey cross lots sold a shade better than 20s per hundred pounds.
Approximately 6000 store sheep were yarded, being made up of lambs and breeding ewes. The market was very firm, with all useful entries meeting with a, good inquiry. Woolly white-faced wether lambs in good hardy condition brought from 15s 7d to 18s 2d, according to size. AA’cllgrow’n w'oolly ew'e lambs, in good condition, brought 26s 7d. Quality v'as not featured among the breeding ewes, most of which w'ere aged sorts and did not attract for breeding purposes.
