Hastings Citizens were tenth in the placing's with 98 points.

M. A match in the B section of the Waipawa and Waipukurau Croquet Clubs was commenced on the local courts last Friday, but when play was well advanced rain set in and it was decided to finish the match on a date to be arranged. Waipukurau were represented by Mesdaines Brasscll, McLean, Taylor, and Reckin, and Waipawa by Mesdaines A. S. Fleming, G. Fox, A. Parkin and Miss Betty Dailey. The scores when playceased were—Waipukurau 32, Waipawa 37.

Bibby, of Onga Onga, had been selected as the society’s candidate in the queen contest to be held in connection with the gymkhana now being organised to raise funds for the Plunket Society and the School Committee’s radio fund.

Lyon, Labor member for Waitemata, at a meeting at Northcote. He agreed that the tax should be abolished, and believed it rvould be taken off at a time when the least dislocation of trade would lie caused. He would not he content till the exchange was reduced. It had been found impracticable, he said, to reduce the interest rate for overseas loans, as the lenders required their “pound of flesh,” and repudiation was not favored. The amount of the loans would, however, be reduced as much as possible.

At a meeting of the local committee of the Returned Soldiers’ Picnic held on Monday evening it was decided to hold the postponed gathering on either March Gth or 13th.
