ODDFELLOWSHIP.

HAWKE’S BAY DISTRICT MEETING. The 59th annual conference of the Hawke’s Bay District of Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows in New Zealand was held in Waipukurau to-day, when officers and deputies were present on a full basis of representation. The District Grand Master (Bro. G. Reg. Cook, Loyal Tavistock Lodge, Waipukurau) presided, and other officers present were Bros. P. J. Priest, Deputy D.G.M. (Loyal Hastings); J. P. Wiliamson, P.D.G.M., District Secretary (Loval Napier Lodge); and D. Mackie, I.P.D.G.M. (Loyal Woodville). Members of the Management Committee, Bros. N. J. McKay (a Director of the Order in New Zealand) ; A. H. Robinson and C. H. White, of Waipawa, Waipukurau, Napier, and Meeanee, respectively. The lodges represented were: —

The lodges represented were: —Loyal Napier, Loyal Meeanee, Loyal Clive, Loyal Hastings, Loyal Abbotsford (Waipawa), Loyal Tavistock (Waipukurau), Loyal Ruahine, Loyal Takapau, Loyal Forest Home (Ormond ville), Loyal Dannevirke and Loyal Woodville. Apologies were received from Bros. E. O. Hurdsfield, P.D.G.M., Waipukurau, H. Bull and W. G. Martin, P.D.G.M. ’s, Napier. There were forty delegates present-. The Grand Master delivered an able address, for which he was accorded the best thanks of the conference. 111 reviewing the progress of the Order in Hawke’s Bay Bro. Cook made special reference to the Juvenile Lodge movement, stating that there were now six branches, with a total membership of 589, viz., Loyal Hastings, Dannevirke, Woodville, Abbotsford (Waipawa), Napier, and Tavistock (Waipukurau), the last three established in the past year. He congratulated Loyal Hastings as the pioneer lodge (1296). The Grand Master informatively referred to the proposed national health, sickness, find pension schemes. Bro. P. J. Priest, Deputy District Grand Master, was elected Grand Master, and Bro. C. H. White, P.G., of Meeanee, was elected Deputy District Grand Master. Fraternal greetings were extended to the Grand Master, officers and deputies, by NIG. Bro. B. Robinson on behalf of Tavistock Lodge. A civic, welcome followed, his Worship the Mayor (Mr I. W. N. Mackie) expressing local goodwill toward the visitors.
