EARLY MORNING BLAZE.
NOTHING SAVED. Shortly before three o’clock yesterday morning a fire was discovered in the Te Aute Hotel, and within two hours nothing remained hut a heap of smouldering embers. The owner and licensee, Mr C. Hart, was absent in Wellington, the only inmates being his wife and Mr Hart junior, his wife, and a small staff. The flames had obtained a great hold when the fire was discovered, and the inmates had no time to save anything beyond a few personal effects. Judging by the fierceness of the flames near the bar when the occupants of the hotel were aroused it is believed that the outbreak occurred in that portion of the building, probably due to a smouldering cigarette.
The hotel was remodelled a few years ago, but the main part of the bilding was very old, its history going' back to the coaching days.
Why run the risk ? Insure with the Norwich Union Fire Office. All classes of risks covered.—Pellow and Pellow', Agents, Waipaw'a.*
