FOOD RIOTS.
DEATH SENTENCES EUR THEFT. LONDON, September 10. The Riga correspondent of the “Times'’ reports that the new period of terror caused by scarcity of food is becoming- intensified, especially in South Russia, the Ukraine and the Volga basin. Forty-four peasants have been sentenced to death for stealing grain since September Ist. Many others were sentenced tn ten years’ imprisonment.
