Mr and Mrs Guy Taylor and family returned to Waipawa yesterday from their holiday visit to the north. James Carlton, the Australian sprint champion, has announced that he intends entering the priesthood and will definitely not go to the Olympic Games at Los Angeles. The engagement is announced of Patricia Katherine, only daughter of Mr and Mrs F. D. Clayton, “Te Whare Ma,” Hill street, Wellington, t(i Cyril Herbert, younger son of Mrs and the late Mr 11. M. Rathbone, “Abbotsford,” Waipawa. K. C’. James, of Wellington, the New Zealand wicket-keeper, has offered his services to the Auckland Cricket Association as professional coach. The offer was considered by the Management Committee of the Auckland Association this week. It was decided to inform James that the association was not engaging a coach this season, hut that the application would receive consideration next year.
