EVENING SPORTS.

MOST SUCCESSFUL MEETING. SPLENDID FINISHES. The growing popularity of the sports meetings organised by the Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club was again evidenced last evening, when there was an exceptionally good attendance. Record fields faced the starter, and in the majority of the events the finishes were remarkably close. The Waipukurau Club was well represented, and performers from across the river competed very successfully. In the basketball relay race the champion team successfully withstood the challenge of four other team*, but Primary A run them very close. The arrangements for the meeting were in excellent hands, and the various events were got off promptly to time, with the result that the light was still good when tin* sports closed.
