IDLE & DISORDERLY.
(Per Press Association). ASHBURTON, This day. Arthur Charles Fowler Gibb (31), a recent arrival from England, where he was an architect, surprised the Court officials to-day by demanding a trial by jury on a charge of being a rogue and a vagabond. To avoid expense the police withdrew this charge, but on a second count of being idle and disorderly in that fie had no lawful means of support, accused was sentenced to three months’ gaol. He had been three times previously convicted. The police stated accused begged for food in the Lowcliffe district, where he slept on sacks in a chaff store.
