FARMERS’ UNION.

WOMEN’S DIVISION. A general meeting and annual book day, under the auspices of the Women *k Division of the Farmers Union, was held in the Salvation Army Hall, Waipukurau, on Tuesday. Owing to the inclement weather, ana a counter-attraction, the attendance was not so large as on previous occasions. Mrs Groome (president) presided. An apology for absence was received from Mrs D. Eddy (Tikokino). Rome 30 hooks, besides magazines and illustrated papers, were contflbuted by the following members 1° replenish the Fanners’ Union library at Mart on :—Mesdames Groome, Kerr. Eddy, Jameson, Harley, Glenny, Allen. Edgar. Bayliss, Wallace. Bibby, Misses Allen, Rhand, and BeachenMrs Kerr (Ruataniwha), delegate to the annual conference, gave a most interesting report of the remits work of the conference, for which she was accorded a hearty vote of thank* Discussion took place as to tn f advisability of holding a shop day to raise funds for the Community Chest and local branch. Mrs Wallace proposed and Mrs Jameson ***' onded, that a shop be held early tn October, which met with the approval of those present.
