BEAM WIRELESS.

NOW IN OPERATION

RUGBY, December 19. The Marconi short-wave beam services are now in operation between Britain and New York, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. The New York beam service augments the long-wave services, which have been in operation for some years. The South American beam services are equally new and place Brazil and the Argentine in direct wireless communication with London for the first time. They operate both to and from Rio de Janeiro, but at present Buenos Aires has no beam aerials, so that while messages are sent from London by beam to Buenos Aires, there is no beam in Hie reverse direction. The two-way beam service on this route will be completed shortly.—(A. & N.Z.)
