WAIPAWA. A FLOOD OF CANDIDATES. Nominations for the local bodi elections closed at noon to-day will the returning officer, Mr H. Fletcher, and created somewhat of a surprise in the number of candidates. For the Mayoralty there will he j three-cornered contest. The present Mayor, Mr H. M. Uathlmne, yielding to the solicitations of many ratepayers, has again offered his servile* whilst two old councillors, in the per. sons of Messrs L. Pratley and W. S Thackeray, have also been nominated For the eight seats on the Borouri Council there are twelve candidate The list includes only four member of the present Council. Messrs 11. J Pellow, E. E. Bott, H. C. Collett, am W. E. Yates. Of the others this have already served on the Council n previous terms, Messrs G. H. Hum S. W .Strang, and R. H. Wedde. Am there are five new aspirants to municipal honors, Messrs D. H. Ed wards, F. Eagle, Gordon Limbra) W. J. Wood, and A. Williams.
