The need for a reliable and clean water supply for the Ruataniwha school has been manifest for some

considerable time. At present the school is dependent on one rainwater tank, and this source of supply has been condemned by the District, Health onicer and Dr. Deck. The alternative is pumping by means of a windmill or small engine from a spring on Mr J. A. Kerr’s property to tanks erected on rising ground. The School Committee approached the Board on the matter some time ago, and following on considerable correspondence the chairman of the Board (Mr G. H. Roach), Mr G. McKay. and the secretary (Mr Dunn) on Wednesday visited the school to obtain first-hand information. They satisfied themselves of the need for an improved system, and the Board will, in all probability, submit a proposal to the Ruataniwha Committee at its next meeting.
