RAILWAY SERVICES.
DRASTIC GUT. ALL EXPRESSES ELIMINATED. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This day. The Railway Department notifies that under the curtailed railway services all express and mail trains will be suspended. Travel between Wellington and Auckland will occupy three days, the nights being spent at Taumarunui and Palmerston North en route. The journey from Wellington to New Plymouth will take two days and the journey to Napier several hours longer, while on the Wairarapa the through mail trains have been cut out. In view of the curtailment the Department has had to limit commodities which will be accepted for conveyance. These are confined to foodstuffs, fuel, and necessary household requisites.
