Lieut. Chamberlain, who left AYellington with the 2nd Maori Battalion as a sergeant, arrived in AA r aipawa by tile mail train last evening, and was accorded a hearty welcome. After being played up town by the Waipaw’a Brass Band Mr H. M. Rathbone officially welcomed him on behalf of the people of AA’aipawa and district, and the customary musical honors were given. Lieut. Chamberlain is a grandson of George Otimi, and the natives of tile local pa are giving' him a big reception to-day.
