Chief Motor Mechanic Greg. Nieiseu is due to arrive at Auckland next week.

Sir James Allen stated yesterday that the appointment of Sir Thomas Mackenzie as High Commissioner had been extended for four months as from April.

Captain E. F. Selby (M.C.) is aboard the Paparoa, due to arrive at Wellington on May 13th. Captain Selby’s mother resides at Onga Onga,

Mrs AA r . S. Bowie, who it will be remembered was, with Rev. AA r . S. Bowie, stationed in the Waipawa Methodist circuit, is on a visit to New Zealand from Australia, and is staying with Mrs AV. J. Pellow.

The following men from this district are aboard the Rimutaka, due to arrive at AA r ellington on the 17th inst.: —C.S.M. L. A. Brassington, Waipawa; Privates AA r . Dooley and R. T. Raynor, AA r aipukurau; Lance-Cor-poral J. AA r . Priest and Private J. H. Sinclair, Elsthorpe.

Lieut. Chamberlain, who left AYellington with the 2nd Maori Battalion as a sergeant, arrived in AA r aipawa by tile mail train last evening, and was accorded a hearty welcome. After being played up town by the Waipaw’a Brass Band Mr H. M. Rathbone officially welcomed him on behalf of the people of AA’aipawa and district, and the customary musical honors were given. Lieut. Chamberlain is a grandson of George Otimi, and the natives of tile local pa are giving' him a big reception to-day.
