GRAND NATIONAL MEETING. Despite the railway restrictions the attendance at the C.J.C. Grand National meeting on Thursday was very large, and the totalisator handled £51,327 as against £46,366 on the first day last year. Master Strowan, who started fourth favorite, registered an easy win in the Grand National Steeplechase, with St. Elmn and Crib in the places. A second favorite in Stone Ginger got home in the Enfield Steeples, Pareinata second and Tauhira third.

A rank outsider, King Star, who was in 25th position on the machine, snatched a victory on the post in the Winter Cup, Parisian Diamond second and Brambletye third.
