The Patriotic Shop, which was open here on Tuesday, had a very successful day, the sum realised being about £l2O.

Mr T. Benson, an employee of Mr Geo. Hunter, M.P., for about 40 years, died on Sunday at the hospital, of which institution he had been an inmate for some time. The Patriotic Entertainment Committee, at a meeting held on Monday evening, decided to give a farewell to the men leaving this district for the 33rd Reinforcements camp. A euchre party in aid of the Patriotic Funds was held in St. Mary’s Hall on Monday evening. The attendance was not quite up to expectations. No doubt the unsettled weather accounted for this. The first two prizes were won by Miss Mclntyre and Miss Madsen respectively, and the booby prizes went to Mrs Geo. Bryce and Mr G. Anthony.
