(Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, This day,
At the Police Court William Ryan, bookmaker, was fined £IOO for betting on licensed premises. Mr Fraser, S.M., said that where a bookmaker has a reputation for honesty and square dealing he did not believe in imposing imprisonment. Defendant, however, had got to the stage when he must expect to be fined the maximum every time he was caught.
