THE SECOND DIVISION.
othink awhile, ye married men: would you shame Hi days to be The children that you treasure now, the mates across the sea? Bravo married men are out to-day; I heard a tiny boy Cry “ Father’s now an officer !” in tones
of pride and joy. Some mates have died on battlefield, but some returning say, “This shirker here must yield my job— I claim the place and pay.”
Go! Back your mates already gone; don’t sing the “married” whine; Don’t soil your good wife’s skirts, my man, hiding at such a time. ; Think of the days when hoys at school I will throw the word of scorn—j "Your father never went to fight: you are but coward born!” i Think of your wives, and ponder how i they will look beside ! The proud young wives of heroes, when j the war has turned its tide; ; When tho bronzed and thinned bat- | talions march up our streets again, ! And cheers ring out for the heroes, i while you are hardly men. THOR.
