The Giamber of Deputies voted confidence in the Government by 395 to 70. M. Ribot, in a speech preceding the rote, replying to M. Renaudel’s request to allow Socialists to go to Stockholm, said:—“We wish an honorable peace, not a peace which will make us slaves. Peace is only obtainable by victory and is not obtainable by conferences. We do not think the Socialist Conference at Stockholm can effect the sort of pence desired. ’ ’ Socialist Mistrae cried: “We will go despite you.’’ (Uproar and shouts of disapproval. M. Ribot then appealed to the Chamber for unity.
