Y.M.C A. DAY.

AT THE PATRIOTIC SHOP. TAMUMU RESPONDS WELL TO THE APPEAL. To-day was practically a Y.M.C.A day at the Ladies’ Patriotic Committee’s Shop, as the whole of the proceeds of the “mystery bags” are t< be devoted to the funds of that institution, and a number of the donation? handed in were ear-marked for that purpose. Mrs W. Kittow ? who or ganised the Tamumu collection, handed in £74 18s 6d, a really splendid response to the appeal. The ladies in charge of the shop to-day were Mesdames H. M. Rath bone, Brewer, W. Smith, D. Kittow. and W. Kittow, and they had an extremely busy time receiving donation? and attending to the requirements ot their numerous customers.

Various competitions were got of) during the day, resulting as follows One pound note (donated by Mr? Brewer), Mr S. McGreevy, jun.; hand some box of phocolates (donated by Miss Gideon), Miss Willis; camisoh (donated by Mrs Hartland), Mr: Eccleton; 10s (donated by Mrs II M. Rathbone), Eileen Bott; sucking pig (donated by Mr Watts), • Mr? Hogg. The ladies found a ready sale foi the mystery bags at the price of om shilling each. Each bag contained r. prize, some of a value largely in excess of the purchasing price.
