GREAT RUSSIAN VICTORY. AN EASTER GIFT. AMERICA’S ULTIMATUM. HER FINAL WORD. BRITISH CABINET CRISIS. To-day’s news, though there is little of actual fighting, is pregnant with interest. Trebizond has fallen to the Russians after some brilliant work. The capture of the city will enable the victors to improve their lines of communication, and puts a different complexion on the situation in the East. Dr. Wilson has sent another Note to Germany. This time it is said to be in the nature of an ultimatum, but we are not placing too much reliance in that. When America has broken off diplomatic relations it will be time enough to discuss her next step. A grave crisis seems to be pending in British politics, and a serious rupture is threatened. When it is suggested that Mr Lloyd George, an out and out Liberal, will resign from the Cabinet and associate himself with the Unionists, the position must be serious.
