PATRIOTIC LEAGUE MEETING. (Own Correspondent). At the fortnightly meeting of the Patriotic League the secretary notified that the five shares in the Otane Raleyards Company, presented by Mr G. Clark, had realised £lO, Mr 11. Stewart, of London, Stewart and Co., buying them first and giving them back again. A cheque for £2 2s fid was received from the 11.8. Farmers’ Association, being the proceeds of unclaimed sheep sold by them. The treasurer of the Horticultural Society notified that the net profits of the late show amounted to about £45, £2l of which was realised from Miss Dillon’s produce stall. This amount would be handed over as soon as the books had been audited. It was decided to notify the Elsthorpe Society that this League would assist them in every possible way at their patriotic Carnival, to be held tomorrow. The date of the next meeting is “Anzac Day,” so the committee have decided to have a special evening, free to all. The local ministers of the various denominations will be invited, and lectures on the war and social items will be contributed. RED CROSS PARCEL. The monthly “Red Cross” parcel was sent away last w'eek, tlie following contributing:—Mrs J. Tod, 1 suit pyjamas, 1 pair hospital sheets, 1 pair draw sheets, 1 pair sox and old linen; Mrs S. Otham, 20 knitted face cloths; Mrs Mullinder, knitted scarf; Mrs Barrie, toilet soap; Miss Howard, 1 pair socks, .1 Balaclava; Miss Knight, 1 Balaclava; Miss M. Tod, 1 pair socks; Mr T. Anderson, 1 pair socks. Owing to the absence of Miss Mundell the parcel is not as comprehensive as usual, but a large number of promises have been made for next month.
