Home Rule
[Received 9 10 a.m, To-day] LONDON, March 4 The Radioal press accepts as authoritative a statement that on Wednesday the Cabinet decided to offer any Irish bounty wishing to exclude itself from Home Rule, a triennium by a plebiscite. (Received 12 30 a m, To-day) LONDON, March 6 It is rumoured that the King has intervened with regard to the Home Rule Bill. The report wjb first dismissed as incredible but it i* now univareally current among politicians and generally accepted as true. His Majesty insisted that a general election should immediately follow the passing of the measure. It is said that the King informed Mr Asquith that if thia course was not voluntarily pursued, bis Majesty would exercise his prerogative dissolving Parlia meet The report has caused bitter and unconcealed resentment in Libural oiroles. Such a step will bring the Crown, for tha first time in modern history, into direct conflict with the dominant political party. The Times declares that it cannot be emphasised too strongly that the predominant feeling on b >th sides of the House is strongly adverse to any aßßoeia tion of tha Royal name with the oritioal stage through which national politics are now passing.
