Napixr, Yesterday Q iite a wintry snap burst upon Napier during last night and continued throughout to day, making matters rather unpleasant for the Waipukurau and Daone* virke school ohildrtn, who arrived this morning to spend a day at tha seaside. Rain thraatened all day, and although very little rain foil the conditions wars not such as to make camping on tbs beach a pleasure. Mr J. V. Brown took advantage of the visit of Mr H. D. Bell to Napier Io lay before him several matters requiring attention. He pointed out the absurdity ia regard to railway fares for workmto, that men eogagad at Hastings oould travel for 2s 6d a week cheaper than those employed at the Whakatn freezing works, a shorter distanoe by four milts than Hastings. Mr Brown also urged the claims of the Plnnket Booiety to I subsidy for tha Babies’ Hospital whioh it is proposed to ereot. The Minister was favourably impressed and promised to briog the several matters'under tbs notice of tho Ministers interested.

Dr and Mrs Edgar, who have been on a visit to Eogland, returned to Napier by the Monowai to-dsy.
