An Important Case.

An important oase, involving a question as to whether a murderer should gain by his own aofc, oarae before tho Suprame Court, to day. The action was brought by the Publio Trustee, in the administration of the estate of Charlotte Cash, late of Helensville, Auckland. Last December, Mtb Cash was murdered by her husband, who was tried at Auckland and found guilty of wilful murder, and sentenced to death, the sentence beiDg subwquently commuted to imprisonment for life. Mrs Cash died intestate, and administration of her estate was granted to the Public Trustee. She left no issue, and under ordinary oiscumstancos her estate would have gore to her husband. The question that now arose was whether the policy of tbe law would allow any benefit to accrue to a criminal by his own aot. In other words, should a murderer inherit bis viotira's property. Three oases were mentioned by oounsel for the Publio Trustee in his argument, namely, the Fauntleroy’s case, in 1825, Mrs Maybrick’s oaso, in 1890, and Nora Crippan’s case, in March last.
