Excitement In France. [Received April 23, 5 6 p.m.] PARIS, April 22 There is growing excitement over the delay in rescuing the French colony at Fez. Captain Moreau is forming a force at Mehalla and Aloazar to relieve Major Bremond’s Sherarda troops, but Raisuli refuses to allot transports to carry the supplies to the French. The Government announces vigorous measures to revictual Major Bremond’s party, The Government’s existence will be endangered unless vigorous action is taken to Bave the French officers, whose position is likened to that of Gordon of Khartoum. A relief force of 4000 natives under French officers at present forming will reach Fez only on May 3rd if unopposed. There are various reports that Fez has fallen and that the garrison has been mussacred. The newspapers urge decisive measures, not heeding the carpings of the German and Spanish press. The Temps declares that Frenchmen are in danger of death through the Government’s inaptitude and must be saved and the Powers told outright what is to be done. There are a dozen British in Fez, including James McLeod and family, Dr Verdon, wife and two children, two English lady missionaries, two American missionaries. There are 45 Frenchmen and 5 Germans.
