Wool Sales.

[Per Press Association.] Wellington, Yesterday

The second wool sale of the season opened to day. The most conspicuous feature was the strong American competition for the finest lines of crossbreds. The quantities offered by the brokers amounted to 7603 bales, or 600 bales more than for the corresponding sale of last year. As compared with last sale prices for best crossbreds rose from fd to Id, one lot of half-bred brought Is, and threequarter-bred ranged from lid to lljd. A few fine crossbreds sold up to IOJd and crossbreds from Bsd to 10}d. As compared with the November sale medium crossbreds in the catalogue in question showed an advance of Jd to fd. Other grades rose in sympathy, but the prices above quoted are for top lines for America.

At the London wool sales there is strong competition, and the market is firm except for shabby coarse crossbreds, which are in buyers’ favour.
