The National League Conference, with delegates from all parts of the oolony, opened to day. Mr J. B. Firth was appointed chairman and Mr R. Hnokett secretary. In the annual report the exeotft.ve expressed themselves satisfied that the public tone on the subject of compulsory training in New Zealand was decidedly healthy. The League would welcome a referendum on the subject. The membership cf the League now stands at (5000, of whom 4149 are in the Auckland Provinoo. A great many districts are not yet organised. Siuce its inception the Leaguo has re oeived £BO3 aud now has £SO in hand.
