The Borough Election.

[to THE EDITOR.]

Sir,—l am pleased to see by your leading artiole that you are at last taking some interest in the borough elsotion. It is a great pity that you did not discuss it a little sooner in your valuabls columns and enlighten those that wen ignorant that they were entitled to » vote, so as they could make applioatioo for enrolment. But lam afraid you an a little late, as the roll will be olossd to day. It was rumoured that it wu intended to work things quietly, so m to allow a certain section of tha oonmupity an undue advantage ovar ths others 1 was afraid it wai to, whso you wore not taking much notioa of It through your columns. But your artiols has dispelled all my doubts in that rumour aud I firmly believe you in taking a great interest in the election. I quite agree with you that we an in want of capable and energetio man. Ws also waut purity; which word, I see, you unfortunately overlook iu your article. Purity is what we are mostly in need of, so as to benafit tha many, not two or three as in the past. Perhaps, Mr Editor, it you were to gift your readers a statement of tho amount of money spent by the Town Board for the laut four years, also how and whan spent, and what the rates were four years ago aud what they are now, would be very interesting reading, and would, no doubt, greatly assist in bringing whit we are greatly in need of—purity in administration of our local affairs.—l am, etc., W. O. Anstib.
