Lantern Service.

The Waipawa Methodist Church wai crowded on Good Friday evening, wheD the Rav. G. Frost conduotod a lantern service on the Passion Week. Seventy slides were passed through the lantsrn and beautifully exhibited on the sheet. The sorvice was commenced by singing the well kuown hymn “ When I Sumy the Wondrous Cross ” and prayer. The paintings from which the slides were photographed embraced the period in the Life of Christ from the entering into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday to ths Ascension. With so good a selection it is difficult to select what wirj most generally admired, “ The Entering into Jerusalem,” “ Mary Magdalene Washing Christ’s Feet,” by Reubens, “The Agony in the Garden,” “ Not My Will but Thine Be Done,” “The Descent from tho Cross,” by Rubens, “Chriit Scourged,” “The First Easter Dawn," by J. K Thompson, “ Christ’s Charge to Peter,” by Raphael were among those most heartily appreciated. Miei N. Mundoll sang most effectively the stored solo, “ The Holy City,” while the view of “ Jerusalem ” was on the screen, and Mr Horace Dixon sang “ Calvary 11 while tho view of “ The Cruoifixion ” w»i shown. The service concluded with the singing of the resurrection hymUf “ Jos us Lives no Longer Now " end the Benodiction.
