OBJECTED TO BE NURSED,
Sued ,at tho Bloomsbury County Court on 12th November the Temperance Male Nurses’ Co-operation for the sum of L 3 14s for nursing expenses, Mr Frederick 11. Bolton, of Merton, Hampton Wick, said : "I did not want a nurse ; a nurse came into my house and said to me, ‘Now, you go to bed.’ I said, ‘ Who are you ?’ " (Laughter.) Judge Bacon ’. Do you mean me to understand that your wife had no authority to send for a nurse. Mr Bolton : Certainly she had not. I was all right. The nurse came to me and said, “ You are not going out.” I called up one of my men, and we walked to Epsom, and saw the Great Metropolitan run. (Laughter.) The Judge: Have your friends accused you of ever having had anything the matter with you ? Your wife thought there was something the matter with you evidently. Mr Bolton : Well, it would bo a nice state of things if a wife is allowed to telephone for a nurse every time sho has a bit of a quarrel with her husband. (Loud laughter.) On learning that on previous occasions Mr Bolton paid when his wife called in nurses to attend to him, the judge remarked, amid laughter, ” You have allowed a custom to grow up, and have sanctioned what your wife has done.” Mr Bolton (astonished): 'Sanction cd ! Tho Judge : Yes. I cannot imagine better sanction than paying. (Laughter.) Judgment was given for L2 10s, one week's payment.—” Daily Mail.”
