An Invercargill Sensation. • A Father’s Deed. [Per Press Association] Invkkoakuill, Yesterday A shocking tragedy was committed at Bouth Invercargill early this morning. James Reid Baxter, seed merchant, attempted to innrdor his wife and family, killiug three of the five children. Baxter committed suioido by shooting himself. The victims were attacked with an axe while asleep. Basil (aged nine years), Roy (four) and Ronald (two) are dead. Phyllis (eleven years), a baby six weeks old, aud the mother aged thirty seven) are in the Hospital. Baxter, who was 43, had a shop in town, and oarried on a nursery.'
