As a result of the report of the comission which inquired into the railway
accident at Backside, on March 29th, when a volunteer train collided with a weekly special train from Christchurch to Ashburton,the Minister for Railways has decided to dispense with the ser-
vices of J. Meikle and H. C. Seaman, drivor and guard, respectively, of the down train, as from the date of their suspension on March.
