The direotors of the S&leyards Company met yesterday, when it was reported that the applications for shares had been up to expectations. It was decided to purchase the land under offer and to proceed with the dreotion of tho yards without delay. Messrs Williams and Kettle offered this morning by auction part cf section 109 with house, township of Abbotsford, having a frontage of 145 licks to Groat North Road and 180 to Waverleystreet, and subdivided into three convenient blocks. Blocks 1 and 2 were sold to Messrs Limbi iok and Jull at £l9O each.
Tho Waipawa Riflos held their übubl fortnightly parade on Tuesday evening, when there were 24 members present, under Captain Collett and Lieutenants Collett and Sutherland. It being a wet evening the company were marched to the Foresters’ Hall, whore they were instructed in manual and firing exercises, etc , by Captain Collett and the non-coms. The next parade will be held on Tuesday next, 25th September, when a full muster iB requested.
