Deaths of Veterans.
[Per Press Association] Nelson, This day. John Gibbs, kuown as “ Soldier Gibbs,” having been in the 12th Foot, died at Wakefield to-day, in his 100th year. He arrived in 1844 and was with Captain England, who was killed in the Wairau massacre. The death is also recorded of Win. Longer, another survivor of the massacre, aged 84.
