Fire insurance is generally looked upon as a risky business. It is also considered a profitable one. The companies liavo all shown good balance sheets for the past year, and are no doubt in good humor with themselves. On the other hand the near approach of the Government Fire Insurance Department may be the reason for the proposed reductions in the tariff. Whatever the reason is, property owners and business people will hail the reduction of about 20 per cent in their insurance premiums with the greatest enthusiasm. The reductions will take effect as from the 15bh March.
