Troopers A. E. Collett and T. Clifford left Waipawa by yesterday morning’s train for Napier, en route for Auckland. A large number of friends assembled to see them leave. No formal send oft* was given, owing to the short period that olapßod between the time of their acceptance and their departure from the town.
The mortal remains of the late Mr Charles Mogrnlgo wore conveyed to their last resting place in the Hodluy Cemetery, yesterday afternoon. A number of townspeople attended to pay a last tribute of respect to an old colonist who had spoilt many years in the district, and the shops were closed as the funeral procession passed through the town. Messrs G. Oakenfull (jun.), 0. Turley, G. Corskio, and D. Hamlin, members of the Loyal Abbotsford Lodge of Oddfellows, to which Order deceased belonged, acted as pall-hearers. The service at the grave was conducted by the Bev. Mr Bowie, Methodist minister, who also delivered a short, able, and appropriate add ress.
