SPORTING.
A meeting of the committee of the Waipawa County Racing Club will be held in the Commercial Hotel, at 8 p.m, on Monday next. The* Waipawa Lawn Tennis Club opened the season this afternoon, when there was a good attendance. Afternoon tea was dispensed by Mrs Todd. Mr W. Warbrick, one of the members of the New Zealand native footballteam which visited England some years ago, died at Galatea, in the Hot Lakes district, a few days ago. Owners and trainers are reminded that nominations for the Porangahau Racing Club’s meeting are due at 8 p.m, on Friday next, the 22nd inst. The club has offered an attractive programme for racing men and no doubt they will be rewarded in the shape of a long nomination list. Those interested should bear in mind that mails arrive at Porangahau on Thursday and that the telegraph office closes at 5 p.m.
