The Stock Market. At Jolmsonville there was an average yarding of oattle, the quality being good throughout. Heavyweight cattle were a trifle easier, but medium weight bullocks fully maintained last week’s prices. In sheep there was a good entry. The demand was slightly easier than last week. Some of the sheep sent as fats were only forward stores. The few lambs and pigs entered sold well. Cattle.—Prime heavy bullocks £9 10s to £lO 2s Gd, medium-weight do £8 10s to £9 ss, small do. £7 15s to £8 2s. Sheep.—Prime wethers 15s lOd, extra prime ewes 16s 3d to 17s Id, prime ewes 16s 3d, good ewes 13s 3d to 14s 9d, shorn wethers (poor) 108, shorn ewes lOs 7d, store ewes 7s to 7s lid, lambs 10s 7d. Pigs.—Porkers (good) 32s 6d. At Masterton 1000 head of cattle came forward and the quality was good throughout. All very forward bullocks and young cattle sold under the hammer, a few pens of growing steers being passed. However, at the close of the day there were but 200 head unsold. Some nice quality beef heifers were penned, which met with a ready sale. Some good dairy stock offered making sound rates. In sheep there was a good yarding, but sales were only limited. Fat heifers £5 10s to £6 10s, very forward bullocks made £6 to £G 12s, stores £4 16s to £5 ss, young steers 85s to 92s Gd, 18-month Gss, good yearlings 60s, steers 45s to 50s, calves 30s, breeding cows and heifers 60s to 655, dairy cows 90s to 120 s, Shorthorn bull £ll. Fat ewes, best 13s, others lls Gd, hoggets 10s to 10s Gd, rams 16s. At Eketahuna there was a poor attendance. Cattle did not reach the reserves. Forward wethers brought 13s Gd, and ewes with lambs 138 Id. At Carterton stock of all classes came forward in fair average numbers, a clearance being effected at good sound prices. Shorn hoggets, according to class, made 9s, Bs, 7s, culls ss, store owes Gs. Dairy cows £4 10s to £5, heifers 508 to 90s, young steers 655, store cows, 50s.
