The funeral of the late Mr VV. Thompe son, of South Makaretu, will take place i- at Takapau, to-morrow, at 2.30 p.ra. - Deceased was first Grand Master of the a Loyal Abbotsford Lodge. An Odd1, fellows’ funeral would have been accorda ed, but the short notice given rendered such a function impossible. 3 At the Magistrate’s Court this morn--0 ing, before Messrs S. Johnson and J. C. 3 Taylor, justices, a prohibition order against John Bradbury was renewed. Notices to be served throughout the Waipawa and Hawke’s Bay licensing districts. Many of the early pioneers state it as their conviction that the climate is changing throughout New Zealand, the seasons being much later than in former 1 years, and the weather this year (says 1 the Lyttleton Times) certainly gives ground for the supposition. Residents in the Wakatipu district state that the harvest now takes place ther e in March and April, whereas in the “ seventies ” harvesting was general in January and early February.
