ODDFELLOWS’ HALL IMPROVEMENTS.
The Abbotsford Lodge members do not intend to sit still under tho indictment that the Oddfellows’ Hall is not up to the requirements of tho town. They have employed Mr C. A. Vautier, architect, of Napier, to suggest alterations which will, when carried out, make the hall quite up to date. Tho chief features are the taking down of the present stage and throwing that portion of tho building into tho main hall, thus increasing the floor accommodation by one-third. An entirely new stago 52 x 26 will be built at tho back, which will give plenty of stage room for any company likely to visit Waipawa, and will also provido ample space for a suppor room for balls and other functions. Tho present supper room will be divided off into meeting and dressing rooms, with a spacious corridor leading to the stage and stalls’ entrance. There will also be provided a room fitted with a copper boiler for tho convenience of the caterer. The whole of the interior of tho hall will also be thoroughly renovated. We congratulate the Lodge ou their decision to go on with the above work and predict a greatly increased return for them.
